Van Gogh
Vincent Van Gogh is one of the most successful and well known artists of his time despite suffering from both schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Surprisingly Van Gogh was not always interested in art. He worked as a language professor for an extended period of time until he began to do missionary work for a period of a year. He gave up everything which led him into despair and he began to suffer from poverty. He then began to draw and after moving with his brother, Theo, who was an art-dealer, he was introduced to many influential men in the art community. Many people attribute his unique painting style to his mental disorders saying he saw things differently than the rest of the world. While suffering Van Gogh cut off his ear which led to one of his more famous self portraits. He continued to paint until he committed suicide at the age of thirty-seven. Sadly he only sold one of his paintings before his death but he had painted approximately eight-hundred oil paintings and seven-hundred drawings, all of which are worth a lot of money now.
